Valencia High School opened in 1994 with only 9th and 10th graders and a freshman and JV football team. Two years later, the football program entered foothill league play as a varsity football team, earning its first league victory against Burbank High School.
Since that inaugural season, Valencia football has grown into a consistent contender and one of the top teams in the LA area, due in part by the constant flow of players from outside the area. In 19 seasons the Vikings have posted a losing record only once, missed the playoffs only once, earned 7 League Championships, and advanced to the semifinals or beyond in the CIF playoffs 10 times.
